| REFLECTION IN 2010 I have been a good swimmer since I was about 10 years old, so death by drowning was not in my plan for 2009. Unfortunately, as I aged I developed an arthritic right arm, which made it impossible for me to do the breast stroke. I switched to the back stroke and always made sure that someone else was with me or nearby when I swam. As I was swimming in our condominium pool on May 21, 2009 my arthritic arm suddenly locked and I found myself struggling to keep afloat. Fortunately, my dear wife Anita and Martha McDonough, a Meridian resident who is a good swimmer, were observing me and came to my rescue. They jumped into the pool, Anita fully dressed, and brought me to the surface and out of the pool. That incident told me that my life clock is running down. I must remember that I have only so many days and hours and minutes to be kind, just and compassionate. I must remember in 2010 the words of Jesus, “You know not the day nor the hour.”
